Green Travel Fund

The Green Travel Fund awards small grants or part-funding for projects that encourage sustainable transport across the University. The range of projects we support is diverse – from installing or improving departmental showers for cyclists through to subsidising departmental pool bus passes.

By helping to meet the costs and get projects off the ground, we hope that greater numbers of staff and students will choose green travel options on their commute and for business travel to and from the University.

Did you know

The Green Travel Fund is financed by income generated by the University car parking permits. Each year we have around £85,000 to award to Departmental projects through the Fund.

How the Green Travel Fund works

  • The Green Travel Fund awards small grants or part-funding for projects promoting sustainable transport across the University.
  • Part-funding by the department is usually required. The Green Travel Fund then usually provides up to 50% match funding.
  • The scheme welcomes applications for financial support on a rolling basis throughout the year. You can submit your project idea at any time.
  • Each application is assessed on its own merit.

What the Green Travel Fund supports

If you are a Department Administrator, Business or Buildings Manager and want to get a project or idea up and running, the Green Travel Fund could help to make this a reality.
