Vision Zero – Road Safety Event 2023

When we leave our homes each day – we should all feel safe and confident about the journey ahead, no matter the method of transport.

We are kicking off the year with a Vision Zero road safety event.

Join us at Radcliffe Square on 18 October between 11am to 3pm.

You will find a variety of resources and support for cycling in Oxford, including:

  • Information and guidance on safe cycling in the city, free light reflectors, puncture repair kits, and seat covers.
  • Thames Valley Police will register your bike to help prevent theft and offer free D-locks to those who register.
  • Register with Broken Spoke for free cycle training.
  • Learn about accident hot spots and receive guidance on how to avoid risks. Map out your route to work/school and receive individualised support on any areas of concern along the way (e.g., tricky roundabouts).
  • Trade places with a lorry driver and climb aboard an HGV to see the blind spots first-hand.
  • Information on all the ongoing discounts and support provided by the University throughout the year.

Please note that, as many staff and students join us, we may run low on available resources later in the day. If you are interested in receiving Vision Zero postcards (for cyclists or motorists) or posters to promote safety, please contact the Environmental Sustainability team.
